By day I am the Vice President in charge of Digital Media for Dog Star Daily, the most comprehensive free dog training website on the internet.
I do not own a dog and an not a dog trainer,
but my dad is. Most of the world’s animal trainers are familiar with the lure/reward, fun & games training methods of Dr. Ian Dunbar, which he first popularized more than 25 years ago with the creation of SIRIUS Puppy Training. Since then he has done a TV show in England, founded the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, produced multiple training videos and given countless seminars and lectures on animal behavior.
Originally I was hired to edit new dog training DVDs, such as SIRIUS Puppy Training Redux and SIRIUS Adult Dog Training for James & Kenneth Publishers. However, I have since become much more involved in the development of DogStarDaily.com, as well as SIRIUS Puppy Training and James And Kenneth Publishers. I am now responsible for DVD production and duplication, including filming, editing and authoring, graphic design, advertising, and managing our digital media.
At Dog Star Daily, we have a complete dog training textbook available on-line for free, plus lots of free downloadable resources. and we stress the importance of training your dog while it’s still a puppy. We have over 400 videos, 40 podcasts and countless articles on dog training, using fun, friendly and effective training methods. Recently I’ve been working on developing DSD TV, and producing the three “tv shows” that are currently on line, including our latest: America’s Dog Trainer.
Training a dog is so easy if you know what you’re doing and you start training the first day you bring your pup home. On the other hand, if you wait until your puppy develops bad habits, then grows into a larger and potentially more destructive creature, you’ll forever be playing catch-up. It wouldn’t be fair to you, or the dog, and it is is how dogs end up abandoned at shelters.
